The first two weekends of October (1-2, 8-9) Swain will be open for Lift-Accessed Mountain Biking and Scenic Lift Rides…perfect for viewing the beautiful fall foliage! New Trails: Get off lift and turn right down Twister a few hundred yards and on right over the pipes is Jedi. It starts out with a quick fast short section,follow the fire road to the pink ribbons. It gets steep and technical real quick. Follow pink ribbons out of the woods and cross the pipes again. Look ahead down the hill to the woods at about 2 oclock and enter at the jedi sign. This section is not as steep. You will exit the woods and go staight across the testament ski hill. Go through the pvc posts to a quick drop off and follow the ribbons down through this section of skinny woods. You will exit at the dirt bike track and ride over the small hills to the woods straight in front of you. Follow this to the right and go down the hill to the lift. The other new trail is kicking butt, which is an extension of the glades. This is and EXPERT LEVEL trail. It has a VERY STEEP hill bringing to the flt. Turn left and pedal back to the lifts.

We are considering the Fall Lift Rides to celebrate a family birthday, but planning for Columbus Day, that would be Monday October 10. Is there anything going on that day?
The ski lift will be running just Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 8-9) from 10am-6pm and rides are $5 per person. Definitely a great way to take in the fall scenery, but we will not be open on Monday. Hope the b-day celebration is enojoyable, sorry we can’t help you out!
If we close due to lousy weather, it will be posted on swain.com and on our facebook page by 8am that day.
