When the four of us took over operations at Swain in August of 2009, we knew what our aspirations for the area were, but the question quietly lingered in our minds, would we be the right fit for Swain? The minute we came through the door, we were inundated with comments like, “Swain is a great place for families!”, “Everyone here is so friendly!”, “We love Swain!”, “I have always skied at Swain, my kids learned here, and now I bring my grandkids” and finally…“Welcome to the Swain Family”. The genuine welcome from the community and customers was overwhelming and in no time at all, we learned that our hopes and dreams were exactly what Swain was already about, family.
As with any change in management, new ideas abound, but for generations, the primary goal at Swain has remained the same: To provide families with a great skiing and boarding experience, affordably, in a friendly and safe environment. Swain has been in continuous operation for 64 years, so needless to say, tradition runs deep here. We are proud, yet humbled, to share in and be an active part of the Swain tradition with our customers, employees, and community.

We are four friends, two couples with families, business partners, and yes, we all ski and/or snowboard. In the Fall of 2011 we will have been in business together for 6 years.
