Motocross Invades Swain Ski Slopes For Another Season

Swain, NY (June 15, 2011) The 2011 summer events calendar at Swain Resort once again includes motocross, officially named Swain Mountain Motocross.  Swain Mountain Motocross is sponsored by Arkport Cycles of Arkport, NY; MotoOption of Ontario, NY; and is now a member of the Western New York Motocross Association.  The premier race of the 2011 season was held on May 22 while additional races are slated for June 25-26 and August 14.  Practices take place June 16, 30 and July 14, 28.

Mad Mike Jones, professional motocross rider, will be racing and signing autographs at Swain throughout the weekend of June 25-26.  Mike is an X-Games gold and silver medalist, has claimed multiple international titles including FIM International World Supercross Champion, and has received various awards including Motoworld Castrol’s Rider of the Week.

The motocross track at Swain spans the width of several ski slopes and is approximately 1 mile long.  Much of the track can be seen from the ski lodge and viewing area below, while the ski lift carries spectators over the track to an upper viewing area. The Shawmut Pub, the slope side bar & grill at Swain Resort, opens during each race.  Free camping and level parking are available.

Each race is open to all riders for a fee of $20-$25, based on bike size.  Classes range from 4 years old and up, with thirty different classes available.  Spectators are encouraged to attend and the gate fee is $10.
